The Women Behind Call Upon A Unicorn
We are a couple of kind-hearted Canadian girls who met almost 30 years ago working in a small cafe in Steveston, British Columbia. We hit it off immediately, took our first girls' trip together and have been the best of friends ever since. We've seen each other through life's tragedies and triumphs, have nothing but love and respect for each other, and now we're using our years of experience in art and business to partner in bringing the beautiful creations of Call Upon A Unicorn to you.
During an arduous 10-year battle against Lyme Disease, DeNon found light and purpose from the spirit world. Needing hope, she called upon her grandmother who had transitioned from earth. Her grandmother's spirit sent her healing messages and images featuring a recurring theme: unicorns. DeNon was unsure of the meaning but trusted it anyway. She began to doodle unicorns. Drawing on her artistic inspirations — Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keefe —, DeNon's first unicorns were portraits and holiday-themed designs. When her son, Gabriel, was about to arrive in the world, she poured her love into the first Baby Unicorn — an image of her child. She refined the look and design process, creating unique Baby Unicorns that melt hearts and connect with the soul. To her, each unicorn feels like a prayer for humanity. With Lisa's guidance and support, DeNon's dream of spreading joy from her grandmother's inspiration has taken flight.
Lisa knows how to get things done. She's had a 20-year career in the entertainment industry as a post supervisor and producer on many of your favourite TV shows and films. A lover of travel, people, and meaningful projects, Lisa is always up for an adventure and for endeavours that uplift lives. Call Upon a Unicorn is a natural fit for her talents and world vision. Once she saw DeNon's first Baby Unicorn, she was awed by the sophistication and lasting appeal. She jumped at the chance to partner with her friend on an enterprise that is all about celebrating joy, innocence and divine love. As the leader of Call Upon a Unicorn's business operations, Lisa combines her skills to ensure quality and timely delivery. Her focus is on making certain the Baby Unicorns arrive in pristine condition and that customers receive products aligned with Call Upon a Unicorn's ideals and ethics.
